Your Apprenticeship and EPA journey

An apprenticeship is a great way to launch your career. It allows you to gain workplace experience as you learn, and get paid as you achieve a nationally recognised qualification.

Apprenticeships offer the mix of experience and high-quality training that employers so often want. They can also offer an alternative route into a career for those who might not have thrived in a classroom setting.

Find an apprenticeship on the government’s website.

The End-Point Assessment (EPA)

The EPA is an essential part of an apprenticeship. It’s a time set aside for you to show what you’ve learnt and demonstrate you’re ready to be qualified.

FutureQuals specialise in End-Point Assessments in the pre-hospital care and aviation sectors, and have a team of experts who assess for us.

If you’re doing an apprenticeship in one of the following standards you may well be assessed by us (We also offer qualifications which support some of the standards):

  • Air Traffic Controller
  • Ambulance Support Worker
  • Associate Ambulance Practitioner
  • Aviation Flight Operations Coordinator
  • First Officer Pilot
  • Healthcare Assistant Practitioner

We work hard with employers and training providers to provide tailored resources, guidance, and support to help you thrive in your End-Point Assessment. With FutureQuals you’ll have all the tools you need to make sure your EPA journey is a smooth one.

“Apprenticeships help individuals gain a broader skill set and bring a fresh perspective to the workplace. In our experience they produce a more rounded and capable employee.

“The End-Point Assessment is a key part of the process, but it’s not there to catch you out. If your training has been good, you should feel confident that you know what you’re doing.

“At FutureQuals we make sure apprentices have access to support materials right from the start. With tools like EPA Pro you can track your progress and access resources as you work through your qualifications. Our unique specialisms mean we offer a level of support and resilience that others simply can’t match.”

Frequently Asked Questions

Assessment grades are typically released within ten working days of the assessment day, via epaPro. Your assessor will not be able to give you your result on the day.

No, you will not be able to resit any part of the end-point assessment that you have passed to increase your overall grade.

If you do not pass any part of your end-point assessment (EPA), FutureQuals will notify your employer/training provider and the decision will be made whether you can resit or retake your end-point assessment. FutureQuals and your employer/training provider will agree arrangements for any retraining or revision you need to do, after which your end-point assessment will be rebooked.

A resit is an opportunity to do the assessment again without any further learning from your training provider. A retake would mean you spend a short period of time learning, and revisiting the areas you need to improve, prior to retaking the assessment.

If you need to resit your EPA you will be capped at a pass, even if your overall grade meets the Merit or Distinction criteria. This is to maintain fairness among all apprentices.

Your assessor will be allocated from our team of associates at FutureQuals. You will be introduced to them on the day of your EPA.

Your EPA will take place at a place organised by your employer/training provider, and will be confirmed by them once they have booked your EPA date with FutureQuals.

Yes, it is important to articulate your thought processes, explaining what you are doing and why. This will help the assessor to provide constructive feedback and make notes that will support an accurate assessment of your performance.

If you are unable to attend your EPA due to sickness or any other reason you must inform your training provider and FutureQuals as soon as possible.

Don’t worry—we’re here to help! Once you complete your End-Point Assessment we submit your record to the ESFA. They process your completion and send your certificate directly to your workplace. If it’s been more than two months since your assessment and your certificate hasn’t arrived, please reach out to us.

Yes, you may be able to get extra support through a ‘reasonable adjustment’. To receive this you’ll need to provide evidence to back up your request. Your training provider will try their best to meet your needs so long as it’s practically possible and doesn’t give you an advantage over other learners. Please speak to your training provider in the first instance. Our Reasonable Adjustments and Special Considerations Policy has more details.

We do have an appeals process in place should you not be happy with the result you have received from us. Please do read our Appeals Policy on epaPro Support Materials ahead of submitting an appeal.

If this relates to an assessment decision, please see our appeals process. If it is a general complaint, our Complaints Policy will advise you what to do.
